Why customer reviews matter

As humans most of us care about what other people think about us and the choices that we make. It’s how we’ve learnt as we’ve evolved. But now the power of endorsement isn’t only for so called social media influencers. Instagram is more likely to show your post endorsing something to your friends rather than adding the # of a professional influencer in to your timeline.

Social media channels now value individual endorsements and aren’t so keen on so called professional influencers

So what does this mean for how you get endorsements? It places greater value in reviews and the rise in popularity of online website review firms like Trustpilot shows how important they’ve become. Google reviews are also extremely important as when your firm is Googled your rating is clear. But all these reviews can be anonymous and could possibly be fake and as consumers get more used to these services the more they will become sceptical.

Reviews on camera are a much more accurate way of getting a true review for your business

Video reviews or testimonials are an increasingly popular way of promoting your business on social media and on your own website. The advantage of video reviews is that potential customers can see the person giving the review and hearing what they purchased and when and what they think. Please speak to us about how testimonial video could benefit your business

When you’ve made the decision to have a video it’s always worth considering if you also need some photos taken at the same time. Depending on what is being filmed you may have had to arrange products or people or allocated time that you don’t want to have to do twice for video and stills.

If the budget for the project allows a photographer as well as a videographer then it can be worth the investment. But here at Seth Conway Media we will also take photos if asked during our time filming with you.

So how does it work? Well, we link our camera with professional sound and HD video in to your Facebook or YouTube account or even direct in to your website if your server allows this. Seth Conway Media has invested in the technology to help you go live in a much better way than the office junior holding up an iPad with the camera reversing the image and the sound being extremely poor!

Livestream is particularly great for staff events where you can’t get the whole team together but any staff member anywhere in the world where they can access YouTube can watch the announcement as it happens.

Christmas fun!

What better than a little bit of fun at Christmas. For around twenty years I was a news correspondent for ITV News (yes I started young!) and so when a Barnstaple based trampoline park approached me for a ‘news style’ report I jumped at the idea.

Seth looking quite excited at the prospect of Father Christmas in Barnstaple!

The creatively minded team at Air Extreme had the idea of promoting their Grotto with a short piece of video that mimics a TV news report. The staff at Air Extreme were equally happy to play the parts of Elves and cameraman and the shoot took just a couple of hours to complete. I edited the report and Air Extreme added in the ‘ticker’ and the green screen mobile phone footage.

The video has had around five thousand views in less than a week as lots of people have shared it to join in the fun. A novel way of promoting the Santa grotto as we all got into the festive spirit.

Happy Christmas – Seth

Too early for Christmas?

It’s October 1st and Christmas Day is still 85 or so days away but no doubt it’ll soon be time to put up the tree and get the decorations out of the attic. But for those people planning Christmas events then the time to act is getting shorter by the day. The organisers of Padstow Christmas Festival are already prepared and we have recently edited three videos from footage that we gathered at last year’s event.

The video with Rick Stein is a great way of creating interest in the event. He’s a well known face which helps but Rick appears early in the video which encourages the viewer to keep watching for longer, it’s something about seeing a face, it’s that human connection. We also made a similar interview based video with Michelin star chef Paul Ainsworth and Olly Smith from BBC’s Saturday Kitchen. The third video is a quick reprise of last year’s event.

All three videos have been or will be used on social channels in a square shape format and we provided the videos in widescreen for website use through Vimeo and also for YouTube.

Christmas like many events is all in the planning so why not think about video for your event. The footage filmed can be used in part for social at the time and then re-purposed to promote your event for the next time. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
